The Foini - Iera Moni Trooditissas is a linear trail that winds its way through the Troodos Mountains. This beautiful trail offers hikers the opportunity to choose two starting points, the Holy Monastery of Trooditissa at an altitude of 1,300 meters, or the village of Foini at an altitude of 920 meters. The hike is an easy trail suitable for hikers of all experience levels.
The entire route of the trail is on a dirt road that connects the village of Foini with the Holy Monastery of Trooditissa. Throughout the trail, hikers can admire the rich vegetation that exists in the Troodos National Forest Park. The dominant type of vegetation is Calabrian pine, Golden Oaks, strawberry trees and many more. Plane trees also grow in the riverbed, together with other hydrophilic plants.
One of the main points of interest along the nature trail is the waterfall of Hantara. Rushing over jagged volcanic rocks, the waterfall stands at a majestic height of 8 meters. Another point of interest is the Holy Monastery of Trooditissa, one of the most ancient monasteries on the island.
Hikers can also take breaks at various viewpoints that have been selected by the Forestry Department. These viewpoints offer panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, towards the village of Foini.
