About the Event
Experience the stunning views of Mt. Kanchendzonga, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Makalu. This remote area will offer an unforgettable trekking experience and the opportunity to climb two peaks over 3600 meters of altitude. The Sandakphu trek is popularly known as a "Trekkers Wonderland" which follows the famous Singhalia Ridge,a high ground that lies at the southern end of a long crest, which runs down from the Kanchendzonga range and forms the border between Sikkim and Nepal. This ridge passing through small settlements, is perhaps one of the most scenically rewarding in the Himalayas. THe etire trail is inside Singgalia National Park, a biodiversity hotspot that boats numerous species of birds and Red Pandas that you might have the opportunity to see.

Detailed Itinerary DAY 1 // BAGDOGRA - DARJEELING After a long flight to Bagdogra/ India our World Treks representative will anxiously look forward to meeting all participants. You will then be transferred to Darjeeling to check in to your Cottage/ Hotel for some rest.
DAY 2 // DARJEELING This is a free day to rest, explore at your own time the area as well as to give yourself time, to acclimatize.
DAY 3 // DARJEELING - MANEBHANJAN (2.5 hours drive) TREK TO TUMLING (13 km - 6 hours) With an early wake up call we will enjoy our breakfast and depart for Maneybhanjang. It will take us about 2.5 hours to reach Singalila National Park. After going through the entry procedures we will commence our trek. Our trek will be a bit steep at the beginning for about 1.5 hours to an area called Chitre. AFter our climb we will hike for another 1.5 hours to a unique village with the name Megma. Our trek continues for another 2 hours to reach Tumling. We will check at our Trekkers Hut for the evening.
DAY 4 // TUMLING - KALAPOKHRI (12 Km - 7 hours) Our hiking start evolves a relatively nicely leveled path to reach the check post of Singalila National Park before we cross over to Nepal to reach the Nepaleze village Jaubari. Proceeding on the trail we will cross back over to India towards the village Gairibas. Here we will have our break before we continue via a trail surrounded by birch and rhododendron trees and after approximately 3 hours of trekking we will reach the Kalapokhri lake. Kalapokhri in Nepaleze means "black pond". Via our route to Kalapokhri we will see several villages scattered on different ridges.
DAY 5 // KALAPOKHRI - SANDAKPHU (7 Km - 4 hours) Our hike today is significantly shorter but the altitude will kick in, and our pace will be slower. We will traverse the ridge to reach Bhikey Bhanjang on the trail that lies within Nepal territory. We will then ascend the Sandakphu ridge which is basically the natural border between India and Nepal. Our hike continues with our aim to reach the peak of Sandakphu at 3636 meters of altitude. From the top we will come across the astonishing 360 views of the snowy ranges of Nepal, Sikkim and Bhutan. The prominent peaks are Kanchendzonga, Kabru, Kumbakama, Pandim, Chamlang, Barunste, Everest, Lhoste and Makalu. We will then descend to our Trekkers hut.
DAY 6 // SANDAKPHU - PHALUT (21 Km - 8 hours) Today is rather a bit difficult but at the same extremely rewarding. With an early wake up call we will rush to see the sun rising over the 360 views we've seen the day before. Get your cameras out and get ready for an unusual site to photograph. When the sun sets up, we will go for our breakfast to head out to Phalut. The trek is quite long today but not so difficult stretching around amazing tree passes, and in some cases treeless mountain slopes before we reach our destination for the day. Phalut offers amazing views of Mt Everest and Kanchendzonga.
DAY 7 // PHALUT TO GORKHEY (15 Km - 5 hours) For a second day in a row, we will have an early rise up for our second sunrise views. Phalut is located north east from the trail so far, we will get a closer look of the giant Kanchendzonga. Right afterwards we will have our breakfast before heading down through a rich bamboo and rhododendron forest to the picturesque village Gorkhey lying at 2400 meters of altitude. There is a river near the village which establishes the border between the state of West Bengal and Sikkim.
DAY 8 // GORKHEY - SRIKHOLA (16 Km - 5 hours) Today we will climb up to visit a village named Samadin. The village is a beautiful site that we must see. We will then descend to the village Ramman before we reach our final trekking destination, the village Srikola.
DAY 9 // MIRIK Today we will drive to our Cottage before we depart home the next day.
DAY 10 // BAGDOGRA Transfer to Bagdogra to catch our return flight home.
